It was softly raining all morning and we woke up to a beautiful rainbow in the sky...and more thru out the day...you can't get better than that!
Since the weather was not good beach weather, we decided it would be the best day to go to the Maui Ocean Center (the aquarium) which had rave reviews. Here's my personal take on it - good to do one time with young kids, otherwise it's kind of "been there, done that". It's really nice, but just kind of small but the best part is the indoor section because there were tropical fish there that I'd never seen before.
Natalie's favorite part was finding the fish that were pink and purple (her favorite colors) and she named them "Natalie" fish.
We also learned that pika means belly button in Hawaiian (because Rachel kept pulling up her shirt and showing her belly button to everyone - silly girl!). We had planned to have a picnic after the aquarium but that part of Maui is notorius for being windy. And when they say windy, it's like Chicago during a tornando windy. CRAZY! So our picnic lunch was had in our minivan as we drove back to our part of the island (and Natalie passed out!!)
After naps, the weather was still not great but we thought it would get better as we headed south towards Kannapali so we booked a laua at the Hyatt. We were wrong about the weather! It threatened to dampen our beautiful (and touristy) luau that we had booked but after many, many prayers said and a few rain panchos, the weather did clear up in time for an evening of entertainment.
We had two different experiences at the luau:
1) crazy Rachel - I was taking care of Rachel who was tired and cranky, running off the stage, etc.......not fun! but since I had already been to a luau during our honeymoon, i sacrificed for the greater cause :-)
2) the rest of the crew had a GREAT time and were mezmorized by the music and dancing. I did enjoy watching Matt and Natalie and she couldn't take her eyes off of the show. That made Matt's night. and Lisa LOVED it about the same amount as Natalie so I'm really glad we went. I'm also sure that Rachel secretly loved it too.
After the Luau, it started raining more so we headed back to the condo. I'm not sure what was up with Rachel, but she kept spazing out and wore poor mama out that night! The next day was relaxing and chilling for the family.
