Hawaii 2012 - Day 8

It's amazing to me how long these reports take have taken to post.....it just goes to show that we are one busy family...espeically this momma.  That's why it was such a refresh to take off 10 days of work and spend time with my family and best friend Lisa.  We took soooooooooooo many pictures too that it's hard to just go thru them and post a single day's worth.  I also enjoy looking at all of them when I write out each post and I can't believe how much we did.  The good thing is that it never felt like we did too much, especially while on Maui.

Ok, so here goes Day 8.

Since we had such a busy (an expensive!!) day on Day 7, we were all happy just to hang out at the condo/beach/pool and relax.  Matt's back started giving him troubles (after we got back, he went to the dr. then the ER then had outpatient surgery and was out of it for a better part of a week recovering and thankfully he is doing much better now!) so he just slept alot and stayed indoors most of the day.  Lisa and I spent alot of time at the beach and pool with the girls (we also rented an underwater camera for 24 hours) so we took alot of water pictures on this day.

After playing at the beach, we went up to the pool and had some more water fun.  Natalie met two little sisters and had a blast playing with them.  Rachel enjoyed putting on Natalie's floaties and I was amazed that she could swim really well with them on.  She had a blast being able to move around by herself and got mad when we had to take them off and go inside.

At nap time, Lisa and I went shopping in Lahainia and got some souveniers to take back.  I had been here once with Matt and we'd had a horrible experience but I'm so glad I went back.  It was actually quite charming and we ended up here with the family on the last day.

Lisa and I also rented snorkel gear since the gear at the condo was not so good (Matt and I had a failed attempt earlier in the week).  Due to the rough seas in the afternoon, all the adults ended up snorkeling the next morning right there at our condo's beach - beautiful! We saw more turtles that afternoon at their cleaning station and then enjoyed an early evening at home.

I have to say that most of our meals throughout the entire trip were done at our rentals with the occasionaly carryout.  I like to cook and I like to save money - Lisa and I went grocery shopping and for about $150 we had food for all 5 for the week.  It is vacation so we would go out occasionally (or at the Luau food is provided) but it was so nice to have our little "home".  We also brought some of the girls' favorite DVD's and had big tvs at both rental houses.  And of course, all places had to have a washer and dryer.  We did a LOT of laundry (less packing!).
